Curated by an Artist for Those That Love Art.

Here is Our Story

Jennifer Hirshfield is influenced by her universal need to make connections with nature, animals and people. Her application of paint and looseness in stroke, stems from her studies at UC Davis under influential Bay Area Figurative painters.

Meet Gallery 300 owner Jennifer Hirshfield: She is a daughter of the Bay Area Figurative Movement. Her subject matter derives from what she believes to be a universal human need—to connect with nature. Says Jennifer “I paint with an intentional and active mindfulness to allow the past and future to slip away.” She has a deep understanding of color with a unique, vibrant palette. Using many types of media in her works—from clay to high gloss molding material, and a heavy, textural application of the paint—viewers often speak of wanting to touch the paintings because of the variety of surfaces and layers of colors. The energy applied in the painting process is meant to mirror the energy of the painting’s subject.

With this deep background in art, Jennifer created a Gallery that she believes represent some of the finest art in northern California. Says Hirshfield about the artists she represents “This group of artists isn’t subtle. We all have a bold sense of color and are prolific painters. All of us are professional artists who are 100% dedicated to their art career.” She curated this group based on a love and impact of their work, liking them as people, admiring their approach, and their serious conviction to the arts. They are a diverse group—in their styles, countries of birth, and religious convictions—but they are united by their politic, an environmental respect, and of being conscious of nature as an informing force. As a woman owned gallery, Hirshfield believes that it’s important to show women’s work, so four of the six artists are women.

The motto of the gallery is “creating locally, showing locally.” Gallery 300 is based on the idea that a working studio is also a great place for people to see art work. And that a gallery can be devoted to the evolving work of the same group of artists, rather than be a sea of constantly changing art. We each change our art monthly, which means there’s always something new to see. Gallery 300 is an integral part of the local Healdsburg community and offer ongoing viewings, art shows, and events.
